Dennis Roger Brooks of East Providence passed away at Rhode Island Hospital on January 23, 2022, at the age of 71. He was the son of the late Robert J. Brooks and Rena (Rainville). Dennis was born in Pawtucket and raised in Central Falls, where he graduated from Central Falls High School in 1969. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969-1975. Nearly 30 years later in 1998, he graduated with high honors from New England Institute of Technology, receiving an Associate’s Degree in Computer Servicing Technology, something he was very proud of. He worked as a millwright for over 30 years at Engineering Material Solutions, formerly Texas Instruments, followed by 2 years at Needle Tech Products before retiring in 2013.
Dennis was a loving, devoted family man who took great pride in providing for his family and taking them on annual vacations to Disney World and New Hampshire. He was a doting Pepe to his 4 grandbabies and enjoyed taking them out for pancakes on the weekends. He experienced some of his happiest moments with them. He also cherished spending time with his lifelong buddies, who affectionately referred to him as “Brooksie”. Family and friends were everything to Dennis. Some of his other passions included gardening, listening to music, and watching the Red Sox.
Dennis is survived by his two daughters, Abbey Botelho and her husband, Paul of Seekonk, and Amy Sousa and her husband, Alvaro of Riverside; grandchildren, Jacob and Isabella Sousa, and Brooke and Madison Botelho; former wife and dear friend, Marjorie Brooks of Riverside; a brother, Russell Brooks and his wife, Cheryl of Warwick, sisters, Ann Emory and her husband, Raymond, of Oakfield, Tennessee, and Lena Marks and her husband, Danny, of Citrus Springs, Florida. Dennis is predeceased by his brother, Robert Brooks, Jr., and sisters, Virginia Dean and Elizabeth Strom. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his dear lifelong friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 30th from 1:00 – 3:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln, R.I. A brief service will follow visitation at 3:00 p.m.
